SI'S STORY

I found it difficult to come out as my mum as she was and is very religious and strict Baptist. I ended up coming out as bisexual at aged 15 thinking it would be easier. But it wasn't I spent 2 years living in and out of the family home. My grandparents on the other hand was very supportive. I also had a number of supportive friends.

Eventually my mum started to accept me for me and I came out as gay at aged 17. To be told we always knew you was 100% Gay! Although we still argue and I get teased me and my mum are now best friends.

I went on to become a big part of the gay community, having working in gay bars, been a drag DJ, helped organise Prides, I've been a LGBTQ+ youth worker and helped start up several youth groups and social groups around the UK.
